"Through a Glass Lightly"

Through a Glass Lightly - acrylic on canvas - 20" x 20"
This painting came strictly from my imagination. When I create the majority of my floral paintings, I am trying to capture the impression of flowers rather than any botanical accuracy. What I think makes this painting interesting is the contrast between the organic shapes of the flowers and the rectangles and lines in the area on which the vase rests. I often paint florals out of my imagination. When I use photographic reference, the painting never looks like the photo. In my next post, I'll show a reference photo and the painting it inspired.
